The Story

Description:

The title itself is the first thing to know: Semence Douce translates literally as "sweet seed", though semence in French also means semen, and this double meaning is entirely intentional. The fragrance is an unflinching meditation on the cycle of life itself. Birth, bloom, and the inevitable return to stillness. But there's a second layer of inspiration that gives this fragrance its particular visual and sensual identity. Bertrand Duchaufour was inspired by Robert Mapplethorpe's photographs of tulips. Recreating the flower's sensuality with a gourmand, almost salty blend, combining warm, comforting notes with the tulip's green freshness and rare, precious saffron. The scent oscillates between softness and sensuality, evoking the milky texture of human seed and the sticky tones of tulip sap
